The peoples of Boston celebrated Labor Day in the traditional fashion this weekend.

That is, by partying just as hard as they normally do, plus one extra day.

Endway @ T.T the Bear’s, 9.2.11: Hopeful crooning and rugged optimism were on the menu at T.T’s this past Friday. If you dipped a rainbow in Splenda and spread it over a Maroon 5 CD, you might/probably have Endway (maybe). You’d also have a really big mess to clean up.

REKS @ Church, 9.2.11: Do you like Hennessy, but you can’t quite vocalize that like in the form of thumpin’ hip-hop? REKS has you covered. Classy beatz for a classy beverage. There’s a reason you don’t see any songs about Bud Light lime.

Downbeat 5 @ T.T the Bear’s, 9.3.11: “Crooning? Hippity-hop? All well and fine,” we picture you saying to yourself, maybe in a rocket-ship or something, “but where’s my garage-punk?” It was at T.T’s. Saturday. You probably missed it while you were whining in our imaginary example up there. Okay, sorry. We’ll imagine that you actually made the show and had a really good time. There, happy now?

Pretty and Nice @ Mid East Up, 9.3.11: Oh, weird, did we totally run a feature about Pretty and Nice that told you exactly when and where you must should go see them? Wow, what a coincidence. It’s like it’s our jobs to tell you about cool shit like this.

Jeff the Brotherhood @ Great Scott, 9.4.11: The way Jeff the Brotherhood’s name is phrased, it kind of sounds like “Jeff” is a verb. Like, “to jeff,” as in, “to guitar-jam the faces off everyone in the vicinity.” If that were true (get in touch with us Websters, we are full of good ideas) then Jeff the Brotherhood totally jeffed the hell out of Great Scott on Sunday. Oh, you still have your face. You’re the Anti-Jeff.

Sea Monsters @ Precinct, 9.4.11: So, it kind of sounds like ska, but not really. I mean, there’s shouting and stuff and there’s kind of a fast dance-tempo but--you know what, it doesn’t matter. You already saw them at Precinct so…wait, what? You didn’t? Sigh. YouTubes, come help us…

Scott Janovitz @ T.T the Bear’s, 9.5.11: Finally, we have Scott Janovitz’s performance at T.T’s yesterday. We could tell you that Janovitz has light haunting vocals and driving guitars and all the general B.S that essentially translates to “this dood is really good at the musiks.” Or, we could just show you the kind of tweets @TheRussianJano pumps out, and let you judge his musical chops for yourself.

“Carly Simon reveals Heinz was right, “Anticipation” actually about ketchup.”

The man knows his tunes. We think.
